Kinnekulla Stenbrott

This former quarry is located outside of Lidköping and Kinnekulla, and now resembles a large canyon and lake, with the local nickname of ‘little Grand Canyon’. It is a former limestone quarry, which is now a popular destination for visitors because of the interesting layers in the rock walls, and the lake, which due to the minerals in the water, is a tranquil blue. Many people visit and even stay here, and there is a large carpark suitable for campervans to stay, if you have your own water supply. There are toilet facilities and picnic tables.

The lake has been populated with rainbow trout, so fishing for them is a popular activity. You will need a fish licence to fish here, which you can get from one of these three places:

Kinnekulla Stenbrott is located outside of Lidköping, so you options are to drive there, or to take the Kinnekulle train, and walk from Råbäck station.

Nearby, there is Munkängarna, a forest area, and also Stora Salens Nature Reserve.
