Peking Duck in Kungsbacka at Min Restaurant

Min Restaurant is based in the new Valand precinct in central Kungsbacka, in an area just outside the old town.

The Food

The restaurant is run by mainland Chinese, and the dishes are a mix of different Chinese cousines. Some examples are Kung Pao Chicken, Roast Pork, Shumai, homemade Jiao Zi dumplings, and the one we have been seeking out around Gothenburg and Kungsbacka – Peking Duck.

The food tastes great. The roast pork is not as crispy on the edge as we are used from Australia, but the taste is really nice, and the pork tender. The kung pao chicken flavour was also really nice.

Since this is local to us, we went back to try the Peking Duck, and the taste, and texture were great, and by that I mean it was what you would expect – the flavour was more like the northern version than the southern version – less heavy on the spices. But a really nice flavour and the condiments you would expect.

Ambience

Everything about this restaurant looks good – the decor is tasteful and stylish (which you would expect for a restaurant in Sweden, but you would be surprised!), and the presentation of the food also really well done. Some nice touches is the serving of the steamed rice in banana leaf in a bamboo steamer.

One thing that would be nice are a few more authentic Chinese dishes, even MaPo Tofu or some noodle dishes, but I understand the need to cater for the local taste.

Should I Eat There?

If I could summarise Min Restaurant, I would say that our search for a convenient yet authentic and tasteful restaurant is over. We might even make this our go-to restaurant. Yes it was that good.
